My birth mother, Anne, liked making marmalade. She gave me these two jars of marmalade last year. Anne died suddenly at the end of last year, while I was in the UK for Christmas. When we got back to Sydney, her marmalade was waiting in the fridge for me. It always makes me smile when I read the last ingredient, “Wollongong water”.

I plan to keep enjoying these jars of marmalade, so one day the marmalade will all be gone. But I took this photo to remember them by. (Anne had also given me some of her delicious homemade vegan worcestershire sauce but it’s not quite as photogenic, so it didn’t make it into this photo.)

We miss you Anne, and not just for your marmalade.
